Diploma in Optometry (D.OPT) includes eye and related structures, as well as vision, visual systems & vision information processing in humans. Optometrists play a crucial role in assessing, diagnosing, and managing various eye conditions and vision-related issues. This program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of ocular anatomy, optics, eye diseases, and vision correction techniques, enabling them to provide essential eye care services to patients.

There will be two main examinations at the end of first year and second year, beside internal test, which will be conducted in the following manners: -

FIRST YEAR

Paper 1:  Anatomy and Physiology of Eye.
Paper 2:  Physical and Physiological Optics.
Paper 3: Practical & Viva-Voice.

SECOND YEAR

Paper 1:  Disease of eye drugs diagnostic instruments.
Paper 2:  Mechanical Optics & Ophthalmic Lenses.
Paper 3: Practical & Viva-Voice
 

ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA:

The basic eligibility criteria for pursuing Diploma in Optometry is qualifying 10+2 or equivalent examination in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Mathematics from a recognized board of the country.

Minimum Age Criteria – 17 years should be completed by 30th Dec of that year

ADMISSION PROCESS:

Admission is based on marks scored by candidates in board examination. Minimum aggregate marks required are 45% for General category candidates and 40% for SC/ST/OBC category candidates.
